Bens off for a run, or two!

Back in October I received the strangest phone call from Ben (Ben is my partner incase you haven’t seen the about me section already), he told me that he had just spoken to our friend Donna who had told him something, this was followed by alot of err’s and umm’s and I think my exact words were “for gods sake, just bloody say it!” then came the words I absolutely did not expect…

“Rachaels got cancer, its gone to her liver, they can’t do anything”

In that moment I felt my insides drop and my eyes well up, in fact I’ve got the same feeling now even writing it. We spent the rest of the day thinking it over and over, wondering how this was even possible and having very teary phone calls and exchanging sad messages with other’s in our group of friends. Worrying and wondering what do we do now? Feeling sad, feeling worried, feeling angry, most of all wondering why the hell this was happening to her.

Our group gathering at Christmas 2019

Rachael is Bens cousin, one who he has spent a lot of time with over the years, mainly through their shared love of Ice Hockey. Rachael lives with her only child, her 7 year old daughter Matilda, they are an inseparable pair and have been from day one, making this all seem even more unfair. Right now we are trying to do all we can to raise as much as possible for Rachael and Matilda to make some everlasting memories together and enjoy the time they have. Perhaps we could even put something by for Matilda’s future.

A fundraising page here was set up for Rachael by two of her closest friends, which has done amazingly well, she actually broke the internet for a little while, which came as no surprise as Rachael is friends with EVERYBODY! Never one to forget your birthday, she’s such a sociable outgoing person who is surrounded by friends!

Aside from this Ben will be partaking in the Winchester 10k and the Fleet half marathon to also help raise funds, his Just Giving page can be found here

We’d really appreciate any donations you can spare to help Rachael & Matilda right now, or even just a share so the pages reach as many people as possible. Let’s make this sad time a little more bearable for them both and give Matilda the best memories with her Mummy!
