This may look like pond water but thankfully didn’t taste like it.
Since doing a little bit of research into hypothyroidism I’ve discovered that there are foods which really don’t help matters so I wrote myself out a diet plan for this week to try and keep my eating as clean as possible, upping my intake of beneficial foods and prohibiting the ones which aren’t so helpful, to see if I can start to feel better sooner.
Surprisingly it’s not just about trying to eat healthily, typically I’d throw strawberries into a smoothie but I’ve had to cut those out as believe it or not they are on the “bad” foods list, along with quite a few vegetables I like. Hopefully being more mindful about what I eat will help me to lose some weight too as hypothyroidism can cause you to gain weight very very quickly and struggle to lose it, being on medication alone doesn’t mean the weight will come off… Much to my disapproval!
100ml Unsweetened Almond milk
20g Frozen Blueberries
30g Fresh Spinach
102g Banana (approx 1 medium banana)
4g Chia seeds
Put the chia seeds aside and put all of the remaining ingredients into a blender and whizzzzzz until smooth. Pour into a glass and sprinkle the Chia seeds on top or stir them through the smoothie and enjoy. This gave me a 300ml serving.
You can of course add or remove ingredients as required, smoothies are very easy but this one has been made to include the foods I know are better for me right now.
Please note that I am not a nutritionist, dietician or professional in this field whatsoever. This recipe is my own, put together after researching foods which are beneficial or not, for my underactive thyroid. Please seek the help of your own GP or medical professional should you require it.

Excellent read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing some research on that. And he just bought me lunch because I found it for him smile Thus let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!
